Reflections for August 29th - September 5th

This school year we continue with reflections on our daily readings from the School Sisters of Notre Dame website.

Sunday, August 29, 2010
Sirach 3: 17-20, 28-29; Psalms 68; Hebrews 12: 18-19, 22-24; Luke 14; 1, 7-14
Jesus, gentle and humble of heart, help our leaders in church and society be non-violent in their use of power. Heal them and us of our many greeds. Make us humble too. To read these daily reflections, please click here.

Homily Helper
Twenty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 5th
Luke 14:25-33
To the extent that we have personally experienced the merciful God --something that may only gradually dawn on us --we should be ready and willing to commit ourselves, as much as possible to making that same unconditional love available to others. WTU Welcomes the New Class!

Fall Class 10On Friday, August 27th, faculty and staff welcomed the Fall 2010 class to the WTU family. New students were given an orientation to the schools' services and programs.

New Fall Elective!

Titus BrandsmaAn eleventh-hour addition to the fall curriculum has been approved. The subject is the heroic blessed Titus Brandsma, a Dutch Carmelite scholar who opposed Nazi policy on Catholic press and schools, as well their treatment of the Jews and their "new paganism" doctrine. Although he amassed a distinguished career as a University professor, he ended his days in the infamous concentration camp of Dachau in 1942. This class will be held Thursdays 1:00pm - 3:40pm, and taught by Jane Lytle-Vieira, a WTU graduate and dedicated specialist in Brandsma studies.

Register today for the First Annual Faith in Action Conference, Sept. 16-18 at WTU!
