Doctor of Ministry in Chrisitian Spirituality

Application Process and Important Dates

General

  • The Doctor of Ministry program is structured in a professional learning model that is cohort-based.  The calendar schedule for the upcoming cohorts are:
  • Now accepting applications for the following cohorts:
    • Cohort IV (completed application for admission due September 15, 2011)
  • Ordinarily, applicants will also be interviewed personally. An on-site interview is encouraged that provides an opportunity to visit our excellent facilities, but a telephone interview can be arranged.

  • Applicants must meet the following prerequisites for admission into the Doctor of Ministry program:
    • Possession of a Master of Divinity from an accredited institution.  In limited circumstances, WTU will consider candidates who do not possess the MDIV provided that they have at least 72 credit hours of graduate studies of theology and ministry from an accredited institution and meet the MDIV equivalency standards outlined HERE
    • Completion of at least three years of full-time ministry in the church after the granting of the MDIV.  In limited circumstances, WTU will consider candidates whose ministry experience was prior to and/or concurrent with their MDIV (or equivalent) studies.

Expiration Dates

  • Application Form/Fee.
    The form and fee are retained and valid for two (2) years from date received.  When this date has passed, a new form with required documents and a fee must be submitted.
  • Letter of Admission.
  • When issued, the letter is valid for one (1) year after the cohort of enrollment, a date cited in the letter.  Student must register for courses before this date occurs.  When this date has passed, a new application form with required documents and fee must be submitted.

Basic Documents Required

  • Completed and signed application form
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • Vocational and Ministry Assessment Information
  • $75 application fee; valid for two years. Submit a check or money order made out to Washington Theological Union, and include the applicant's name and date of birth on the face of the check
  • Recommendations, as follows:
    • All applicants: three completed recommendation forms from persons who can assess the applicant's desire to pursue a Doctor of Ministry.
    • For members of Roman Catholic religious orders or Diocesan Clergy: a completed recommendation form from the applicant's ecclesiastical superior

  • Additional Documentation Required

Admissions Process

  • Submission of all application documents
  • Interview
  • Application acknowledged and evaluate
  • Offer of admission issued
  • Return of applicant's signed declaration if intent to enroll
